Hi everyone,
sorry to be a pain, but could please erase the mails on your page before responding, it extremely tedious to have to scroll through the same messages over and over. On the question of Mulvey's contribution, it is formidable and initiated not only a politics of reading and representation but also sought to understand the political unconscious of the artistic text. I like others (including Mulvey herself) have my doubts about some of her initial contentions but one can hardly see her work as only about uncovering sexism, it is the mechanisms of the cinema as apparatus and as institution that she so brilliantly exposed.
