Announcing International BiReCon 2010 On August 26th 2010 the first international BiReCon event will be taking place in London, UK, as the first day of the weekend-long international BiCon. Those who attended the first national BiReCon in 2008 will know that it is an event which brings together researchers and writers with activists, organisations and members of the bi community. This year we have a number of prominent international writers, researchers and activists presenting their work. We already have confirmed keynote talks from Jonathan Alexander (from the Journal of Bisexuality), Robyn Ochs (from the Bisexual Resources Centre, and author of ‘Getting Bi’), Steven Angelides (author of ‘A History of Bisexuality’), and Serena Anderlini D’Onofrio (author of many works on bisexuality, and most recently ‘ Gaia and the New Politics of Love’). We will also be show-casing the work on bisexuality that is currently happening in the UK. As well as hearing about cutting edge research, BiReCon is an opportunity to share good practice about working with bi people in your group or organisation, and to attend workshops about various current aspects of bisexuality worldwide. If you are interested in presenting, or facilitating a workshop, at BiReCon, then please get in touch (email: [log in to unmask]). If you want to attend we will be circulating details about registration as soon as this is up and running, and details will be constantly updated at www.biuk.org and www.bicon2010.org.uk. BiCon is a community organisation so unfortunately it has no funds for presenters or travel expenses. However, it will be an opportunity to network with others working in the field, to share good practice, and there will be spaces available to conduct research which fits within the ethos of the event. Please forward the attached flyer to any groups, individuals or mailing lists that you think might be interested in the event. All the best, Meg Barker & Christina Richards (of BiUK)
