Cliff,
My initial reaction to this was to think - into
BASA Newsletter; but it is too long. Is it possible to do a summary say 1,500
words.
I think it may be time that we began to think about
BASA pamphlets, produced in same format as current newsletter though perhaps
with a thin card cover. In which case this paper could be one.
We could have two prices: a sale price; and a
discount price for members - making membership more attractive. If we go down
this road, then the proposed League of Coloured Peoples newsletter could
be a pamphlet.
What do you think?
This is not for Monday, but could go on the
November Committee agenda.

Project - Cliff Pereira
Hi Mary
Thanks for a great lreport aunch yesterday -
many points for us to ponder on. Please find attached my paper presented to
the Nordic Summer University at Tyrifjord in Norway this July. I think you
will find that this is an interesting example of indvidual community archive
contribution to academic thinking.
Genealogy, oral history and
community enagement are very rarely used in this way - but in this case of a
"hidden community" these were the only tools of study.
If you wish to
quote this please reference "unpublished manuscript presented at the
Nordic Summer University at Tyrifjord, Norway. July 2009. By Clifford Pereira
FRGS."
Also can you forward to Andrew Flinn
please.
regards
Cliff

Subject: UCL Community Archives project report -
event tomorrow
To: [log in to unmask]
Hi,
This is a reminder that the launch of the 'community
archives and identities' research project report will be taking place tomorrow
(Thursday 17 September) at 4.30pm in Wilkins Old Refectory, Wilkins building,
UCL (entrance from Gower Street). The format of the event has changed
slightly; the final document is not now being published tomorrow, since we
wish to incorporate some of feedback from the discussion into the report, but
a summary with the full list of recommendations can be downloaded here.
We would like to get off to a prompt start as time is limited so
please try to arrive for a 4.30pm start. There will be (limited) space
available for the display of leaflets and flyers so do feel free to bring
information about your projects and initiatives.
We look forward to
seeing you tomorrow.
Kind regards,
Mary.
(On behalf of the
Community Archives research team).
