Project Archivist  (Fixed term contract: 10 months)
Salary Scale 5/6 currently £19,427 - £23,473

 
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic archivist to catalogue the important archive of Jarrold and Sons Ltd of Norwich. Founded initially in Woodbridge, Suffolk the firm moved to Norwich in 1823 and has become one of the most familiar business names in East Anglia. Funding to support this prestigious project has been acquired from Jarrold and Sons Ltd, the John Jarrold Trust and Norwich Historic Economic and Regeneration Trust.

Based in The Archive Centre in Norwich, you will be part of a team delivering an inclusive, modern and responsive four-star archive service. The entire holdings of the Norfolk Record Office, including the archive of Jarrold and Sons Ltd, have been ‘Designated’ by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council as being of outstanding national and international importance.

The Project Archivist will catalogue the Jarrold and Sons Ltd archive, and also create related authority files. On completion of the project the online catalogue will be drawn to the attention of a wide audience in 2010.

In addition to a recognised professional qualification in archive administration you will have experience of cataloguing collections using archival software, preferably CALM. An eye for detail, excellent verbal, written and ICT skills are essential. You should also be able to demonstrate an ability to produce high quality work to meet agreed deadlines and targets. Experience of working with business archives will be highly desirable.
