James, Thank you. I'm working in company which produce tool and special steels and we used Bruker D8 on this steel samples. We wish to reduce background from the steel matrix in our analysis. Now we used scintillation detector and Cr Kalpha radiation. When work with powder samples or thin films or other alloys like Cu, Al, Pb the results are ok. In the attached file is pattern of 12% Cr steel with retained austenite from the bulk sample (metallographic sample). Background is to high. Do you think that the SOL-X detector is suitable to reduce this background or maybe is graphite monochromator the better solution.
