Hi folks, Trying out this jiscmail message thingy for the first time! The Tayside Medical History Museum recently opened its new exhibition A Delicate Operation: the History of Surgery in Tayside. The exhibition traces the history of surgery in Dundee and its surrounding area, exploring the careers of some of the region's most eminent surgeons of the past 200 years, the early development of surgical specialities, changes in theatre design and the history of local instrument manufacturers. Dundee has a long history in developing new surgical techniques and instruments, which continues in the present day – among the items on show are prototype laparoscopic instruments designed by Professor Sir Alfred Cuschieri and his team, on loan from the Institute for Medical Science and Technology. The exhibition is on show at the Medical School, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee until 29 November. A website with text and images from the exhibition has been created at http://www.dundee.ac.uk/museum/medical/operation.htm Best wishes, Matthew Jarron Curator of Museum Services University of Dundee The University of Dundee is a registered Scottish charity, No: SC015096
