** With apologies for cross-posting **

Due to demand we are extending the deadline until Monday 24 August for applications to take the course 'Strategic Management for Information Professionals' as CPD in September. Management is a key issue for all archivists, records managers and information professionals as they progress through their career. It is also a subject that is not always addressed sufficiently in the training opportunities available to early and middle career professionals. This course is designed to examine management issues from the perspective of information professionals and focus on the issues they are likely to face. The course is written and tutored by Susan Mansfield, Head of Information Services at the Scottish Parliament, who combines her considerable knowledge of the information sector and of management issues in an engaging and practical way.

The course examines the key challenges faced by information professionals in management roles. The course looks at managing people, money and services from a legal, ethical, practical and theoretical perspective. It is of particular value to those professionals who find themselves in management roles with no formal training.

The course runs for 15 weeks and is provided by fully supported online distance learning. The Semester begins Monday 21 September.
