This role is based at Solihull Hospital and will be responsible for developing services for Management, Midwifery, Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Pathology, Radiology and Allied Health Professionals across the three main hospital sites of the Trust. The post-holder will need to be proactive and innovative in support of evidence-based practice and clinical governance. They will initiate and maintain contact with staff in assigned specialties or departments to provide highly specific, quality filtered information to support patient care. The post holder will also develop and maintain electronic resources to enable the provision of a virtual library service Candidates should be a Chartered Librarian [or working towards Chartership] and hold a first degree or postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or Information Science and have considerable experience working in a health library. You should be an expert in literature searching and possess a detailed knowledge of health databases. You will also have well developed IT skills together with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Post holders will be required to travel between sites and it is desirable that candidates are car drivers and have their own vehicle. The ability to be flexible and adaptable in dealing with both library users and a range of library resources is also a requirement of the post. You will be required to work closely with other team members in providing an efficient enquiry and document supply service, maintaining the book and journal collection on a daily basis and providing assistance to library users. Being a team player is important, together with good interpersonal skills. You will need to be adept at prioritising tasks when the library is busy. You must either possess a City & Guilds or NVQ 3 library and information science qualification [or equivalent] or be willing to undertake this qualification.
