The following training events will be held in York in the autumn/winter of
2009.

"Early modelling": using models to inform drug and device development (2nd
October 2009). This course provides a background to the evaluation of
products early (or even before) development. The course is particularly
useful to those who are responsible for price setting or market placement
for pharmaceutical or device products.

'Getting the best out of Search Filters' (11th November 2009). This training
event will explore how to identify, critically appraise and test out search
filters, focusing on health and social care.

Understanding and critiquing health economic models (27th November 2009). An
introduction to models in health economics and how to critically appraise
them. The course helps the user to review economic models and introduces
potential biases and limitations of modelling exercises, as well as the
potential solutions.

Identifying Diagnostic Test Accuracy Studies: Challenges and Strategies (30
November 2009). This study day provides an introduction to the key features
of diagnostic test accuracy studies to provide insight into retrieval
challenges.  This is followed by an overview of the research evidence on
search approaches to identify diagnostic studies and the key current
resources available to find studies and reviews.

Economic evaluations & economic evidence in healthcare: finding information
to inform technology assessments & economic models (20 January 2010). This
event includes a 'jargon buster' session on the basics of health economics
and economic models, followed by presentations about key economics databases
and information resources.

Trials registers, trial results registers and other research registers: 
Challenges and opportunities (18 February 2010). Provides an overview of
research registers recording ongoing research such as clinical trials and
results registers.
