** Apologies for Cross Posting ** Palgrave Macmillan, the academic publishing division of Macmillan Publishers Ltd, and The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) announced today that Palgrave Macmillan will publish BioSocieties on behalf of the LSE. BioSocieties is an innovative peer-reviewed research journal, which explores the social, ethical and policy implications of developments in the life sciences and biomedicine. It is a crucial forum where the most rigorous social research and critical analysis of these issues intersects with the work of leading scientists, social researchers, clinicians, regulators and other stakeholders. Professor Nikolas Rose, Co-Editor of BioSocieties and Director, BIOS Research Centre for the study of Bioscience, Biomedicine, Biotechnology and Society, LSE, said: "I am delighted with the move of BioSocieties to Palgrave Macmillan. BioSocieties has shown, by the quality of its publishing, that scholars and researchers in the social and human sciences are fully committed to taking up the challenge posed to them by the amazing advances in the life sciences and biomedicine, and that a genuine dialogue between the biological and social sciences is not only possible but of vital importance for all those who care about the future. This new association testifies to the continuing strength of the mission of BioSocieties, and will ensure that the debate will be a lively, innovative and rigorous one. I look forward to working with our new publishing team as BioSocieties continues to analyse the critical social, ethical and policy issues raised by the scientific developments that are reshaping our understanding of life itself, and our capacity to intervene in it for human purposes." The first volume to be published by Palgrave Macmillan will be Volume 5, beginning in March 2010. Cambridge University Press will complete publication of Volume 4 (2009). The LSE and Palgrave Macmillan are working together to ensure a smooth transition. The editorial operation of BioSocieties will continue unchanged. David Bull, Publishing Director, Journals at Palgrave Macmillan, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with LSE and Nikolas Rose and his editorial team to publish BioSocieties. We believe that the quality of the journal and its editorial processes, allied to our sales and marketing insights and our global journals publishing infrastructure, will enable BioSocieties to prosper in the years ahead.” Publication Details: BioSocieties: 2010, Volume 5, Published quarterly Print ISSN: 1745-8552, Online ISSN: 1745-8560 Website to follow at: www.palgrave-journals.com/biosoc/ For further information, please contact: Sophia Blackwell Palgrave Macmillan, 4 Crinan Street, London N1 9XW Tel: +44 (0) 20 7014 4030; Fax: +44 (0)207 843 4650 Email: [log in to unmask] Professor Nikolas Rose BIOS Centre, London School of Economics Houghton Street, London, WC2A 2AE Email: [log in to unmask] About The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) LSE is one of the foremost social science universities in the world and has around 7,300 full-time and part-time undergraduates and postgraduates from more than 130 countries worldwide.
