italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

Salve,

I suggest:

- Pietro G. Beltrami, "Gli strumenti della poesia" Il Mulino

it's a short metrics manual, I found it very helpuful.

- Bice Mortara Garavelli, "Manuale di retorica" Bompiani

- Series "Storia della letteratura italiana" pubblished by "Il Mulino": in particular "il Settecento" by A. Beniscelli, "L'Ottocento" by R.Bonavita and "il Novecento" by A. Casadei (there are a lot of Literature manuals but this is really short and clear)

You can find them in every bookstore.

Best wishes.

Marianna Orsi

Salve, tutti! I am trying to learn how to scan Italian poetry. I have had some advice from a few colleagues and some brief information from grammar texts, but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend books or websites that will help me. I work primarily on poetry published between 1700-1940. I'm currently in Torino, but leave Friday, so if you have any suggestions for generally available texts that I could buy here in Italy before I go, I'd really appreciate it. Please respond off-list if that seems best; I'm at [log in to unmask] Grazie e ciao!
