E-Learning Workshop
Organised by the North East Regional Museums Hub

Designing for Web 2.0 in the Heritage Sector
Discovery Museum, Newcastle upon Tyne
4 September 2009, 9.30am - 2.30pm

The North East Regional Museums Hub is delighted to offer, once again, the e-learning workshop, ‘Designing for Web
2.0 in the Heritage Sector’, which was a great success earlier this year.

The workshop will introduce topical ideas in digital media technologies for the cultural sector. It will examine current

practice in user generated content, joint authorship, appropriation and dynamic knowledge creation. The workshop will
also look at institutional representation in this new digital context, as well as strategies for cultivating media literacy.

The workshop will explore topics such as:
- Collaborative knowledge creation and repositories
- On-line institutional identity
- Media literacy and readership
- The role of the author/curator
The workshop is designed to encourage conversation and include a significant amount of practical, hands-on
engagement with the issues discussed. The event will be delivered by Areti Galani and Jamie Allen of Newcastle
University’s School of Arts and Cultures. A buffet lunch will also be provided.

This is a free event but places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

To book a place on this event, or to find out more about it, please contact Rob McIver by email at:
