Dear Jo,
Quite a lot of information about
how museums are responding to Twitter has gone out on Twitter itself.
Recent tweets include a
downloadable list of 467 museums worldwide that are currently using Twitter as
an active part of their marketing. Download the list from the link below
(CAUTION: opens an Excel spreadsheet):
http://www.museummarketing.co.uk/museum_twitter_aug09.xls
Plus, if you are so inclined, an
evolving list of museums on Twitter that are run by women.

If you’re really keen, the
American Museums Association runs a Facebook group of museums that use Twitter
at:
http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=8149552975&topic=7583
Finally, the inimitable Jim
Richardson over at Sumo has a lot of information about how museums are using
Twitter on his MuseumMarketing blog at:
http://www.museummarketing.co.uk/
Hope some of these are useful!
All best,
Nick

The ‘Template Twitter Strategy for Government
Departments’ by Neil Williams is a handy tool for getting started on
Twitter. Even if not all of it is relevant to you, it addresses some of the
concerns people have about Twitter and comes up with solutions, as well as containing
a whole other lot of useful tips:

A quickie...
I’m just thinking of adding our Museums onto
Twitter. Is it worthwhile? What do you use it to promote?
Comments for/against are more than welcome.
Thanks!
