Dear all
We have recently had a health and safety inspection which suggested that it is unsafe for staff to work alone (producing heavy boxes using a ladder, for example, where they might fall backwards) in strong rooms without additional aids such as a pager or personal alarm. Have other people used these and found them to be effective? My particular concern is whether pager signals will work in the strong rooms, which don’t allow mobile phones to work. Before we purchase this equipment I would be grateful for confirmation that it is worth getting.
An alternative is to send staff in to work in pairs but this would greatly slow up the time taken to produce material and cause frustration for both staff and researchers, so that is a last resort.
Please reply off-list and I will collate responses,
Thanks in anticipation,
Claire Skinner
