Aha, touché!

Dim ond un o gyrff (cronfeydd) dosbarthu arian y Loteri yw'r Gronfa Loteri Fawr, ond hi yw'r fwyaf, felly Y Gronfa Loteri Fawr. Ond nawr bydda i'n dechrau maglu fy hun, felly dweda i ddim mwy!

Gwybodaeth ddiddorol o ran doily (doyley), a da gweld ei bod yn mynd ar y rhestr.

Os gallwch chi egluro wrthyf i ai “Cronfa Fawr y Loteri” ynteu “Y Gronfa Loteri Fawr” yw ystyr “Big Lottery Fund”!

O ddifrif; mae Bruce wedi edrych yn y “Concise Oxford”.  Mae’n debyg mai “doily” yw’r sillafiad safonol, ond gyda “doyley” fel amrywiad.  Y peth od yw hyn:  “originally the name of a fabric, from Doiley, the name of a draper” – h.y. nid y naill un na’r llall!

Mi gopiaf eich neges i’r ffeil ar gyfer cywiriadau ac ychwanegiadau i’r Geiriadur – ond dim ond am gywiriadau y mae Bwrdd yr Iaith wedi gofyn ar hyn o bryd wrth baratoi’r fersiwn electronig. Yn anffodus nid oes modd newid testun y Geiriadur printiedig ar hyn o bryd, nag ychwanegu at yr atodiad yn ddi-bendraw.

Mae’r rhan fwyaf o’r rhai mewn caffis a siopau cacennau wedi’u gwneud o bapur.  Ond yn y dyddiau pan oedd pobl yn golchi pethe a’u hailddefnyddio yn hytrach na’u taflu, roedden nhw’n cael eu crosio a’u tatio a hyd yn oed eu brodio.

Wnes i erioed gorfod brodio ‘doilies’ yn yr ysgol gynradd, ond wnes i sawl ‘tray cloth’ a ‘dressing table set’.  Mawredd, dwi’n hen!
