Dear Colleagues The EU-funded GEOTRAINET programme aims to develop a coherent training framework for ground source heating and cooling within Europe. It is intended that this will eventually lead to a Europe-wide certification scheme for drillers and designers. The first GEOTRAINET training course for driller took place in Uppsala, Sweden in June 2009. A repeat of the GEOTRAINET drillers' course is to be held in Dublin, Ireland on 28-29 September 2009. The long term aims of the project include the raising of standards in this growing industry with a view to the protection of the environment and to a high quality for the consumers, www.geotrainet.eu <http://www.geotrainet.eu/> . After the success of the first course, the second training course will be of interest to those with experience in drilling. The objective of this course is to train drillers for the installation of shallow geothermal systems. This course responds to the demand from the GSHP market. The Drillers normally have a background in mechanics and work for drilling companies in water, foundation engineering, etc.; only a few are SMEs fully dedicated to geothermal energy. The course programme is based on the curricula developed by Geotrainet European Experts Platform. This Experts Platform has developed an education programme including the necessary content and skills for shallow geothermal system drillers. The course and supporting materials will be delivered in English. The course is funded by the Geotrainet project, costs are free for the participants. The number of seats is limited and first preference will be given to delegates from the European Union and European Economic Area. Below you can find the application form.
