The UKCRC Consortium 'Modernising Medical Microbiology' is a collaboration of unprecedented scale between Oxford University, the Health Protection Agency, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the NHS that aims to revolutionise approaches to tracing and tracking clinically important micro-organisms in near-to-real-time, using modern sequencing technologies to better understand the biology and epidemiology of C. difficile, Norovirus, S. aureus, and M. tuberculosis.
