This is a phishing ploy. I got a spate of these about a year ago from the 'University of Glasgow', and then about six months ago from the 'University of Birmingham'. Just ignore such messages.

If in doubt, forward a copy of such a message to the information services people at the University of Leeds, and ask their advice.

I am sorry to bother the list with something slightly off topic.  Like many other list members, I occasionally attend the Leeds IMC - although I did not this year.  As I have spoken, I know that I am on their system.  In the past couple of weeks, I have been receiving messages purporting to come from the Leeds University webmaster.  It says there has been some trouble with the web site and asks me to do something about my security.
 
This is very like the messages one often gets claiming to come from banks that are really attempts to get one's security details, so I have been ignoring them but I am a little worried that they may be real messages that I should reply to.
 
Does anyone (John Dillon?) know if these genuine messages that need a response or are they just part of another scam?
