Hi Nick & other MCG members I do have a Twitter account but because I only use a computer (rather than any mobile devices to communicate with the www) I don't use it very often. I do however receive the emails from the MCG list direct to my work email address which I have open whenever I'm at my desk and so I can easily follow the MCG hot topic of the moment without having to open up any other applications. I suppose I really should start using an RSS aggregator and then I could keep up to date with Twitter and other feeds - OK you've spurred me on to try doing it ... 10 mins later ... Well I've gone and got myself a NetVibes account and put in my Twitter feed now I just need to open up NetVibes each day and I can keep up to date with Twitter. Now the next thing I need to do is to start following the people who are having these interesting conversations so perhaps you expert Tweeters could suggest where the action is re Museums and the web? Linda Ellis Wolverhampton Arts & Museums Service -----Original Message----- From: Museums Computer Group [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Nick Poole Sent: 25 July 2009 02:00 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: MCG and Twitter Dear MCGers, As long-standing members of the MCG will know, I am not exactly an early-adopter of new technologies(!). However, it has recently become clear that a lot of discussions which would normally have happened via the MCG list have been happening on Twitter instead. I am not sure whether the MCG is on Twitter, but it would be extremely useful to know how many of you are habitually using Twitter and whether this would be a useful information channel in future? It is in the nature of Twitter to be ephemeral, but nonetheless, if a significant majority of you are using it in place of RSS or Outlook, then it is clearly a useful vehicle for MCG business.
