Dear Liam, That 'well accepted' study is entirely counter to what I know to be the case with creative problem solving in Japanese groups - which radically outperforms any Japanese individual's performance - in a set time-frame, especially a short one - I'm willing to bet the study was not conducted cross-culturally - the fatal flaw of most such studies.
