Postdoctoral positions are available to study the structure and function of neurotransmitter receptors in a group at the NIH main campus, Bethesda, MD 20892
We are looking for highly motivated young scientists who would like to join a group which combines crystallographic studies with biochemical and electrophysiological experiments to understand the function of glutamate receptor ion channels, the major mediators of excitatory synaptic transmission in the brain. A major component of the work involves protein expression and crystallization trials. Preference will be given to candidates with strong skills in cell biology, or protein purification and large scale expression using mammalian and insect cell culture. Experience in macromolecular crystallography highly desirable but not essential. Must have excellent communication skills in English and a superb ability to work as part of a team.
