Medical Statistician	
Excellent opportunities for career development as a Medical Statistician working within a well established team (full/part-time; minimum 50%fte) 

Available for a fixed term of three years (with the possibility of extension dependent on funding).

The Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU) at the University of Leeds is a leader in the field of clinical trials and is one of only 26 clinical trials units across the UK to be awarded full registration status by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration.  The Unit conducts national and international randomised clinical trials in a variety of clinical fields (cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke, mental health, obesity, skin and care of the elderly) and is developing trials in musculoskeletal disease and oral health.  The CTRU has a strong methodological portfolio associated with clinical trial research.  

You will be talented and enthusiastic and join a well established team of 12 statisticians supporting the Unit's work on clinical trials.  Working in a multidisciplinary team including statisticians, programmers, clinicians, health economists, health service researchers and trial managers, you will be involved in a wide range of statistical activities, including preparing grant applications, design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials

You will work on internationally renowned trials designed to answer questions of real importance to clinicians and patients, ultimately improving disease outcomes and patient care.

Along with an opportunity to further broaden your expertise through general consulting to health professionals and methodological research, depending on individual interests, opportunities also exist for PhD registration, for interested candidates.

With a postgraduate qualification with a major statistical component, you will have excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills and be able to work well within a multidisciplinary team.  We welcome applications from individuals still to complete their studies.

Senior Medical Statistician / Principal Statistician

We are looking to appoint talented and enthusiastic individuals to join a well established team of 12 statisticians supporting the Unit's work on clinical trials.  As a Senior Medical Statistician, you will work in a multidisciplinary team including statisticians, programmers, clinicians, health economists, health service researchers and trial managers and will be involved in a wide range of statistical activities, including preparing grant applications, design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials.  In addition as Principal Statistician, you will provide the statistical strategic lead and statistical supervision during the design and implementation for a number of complex trials within one of the CTRU Portfolios. 

There will also be an opportunity to further broaden your expertise through general consulting to health professionals and methodological research, depending on individual interests.

With an MSc or PhD with a major statistical component, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; be able to work well within a multidisciplinary team and have experience in clinical trials.  For the more senior post, you will have considerable experience in complex clinical trials, project management and people management skills and a nationally recognised research profile in clinical trials and medical statistics.

Senior / Principal Statistical Methodologist

We are looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic individual to join a well established team of 12 statisticians supporting the Unit's work on clinical trials.  As a Senior/Principal Statistical Methodologist, you will help to develop innovative statistical methodologies for trial design, conduct and analysis, in one or more of the following areas: early phase trials; medical device trials; evaluation of complex interventions; patient reported outcomes; survival analysis and mathematical/statistical modelling.  In addition, as a Principal Statistical Methodologist, you will undertake and supervise others undertaking statistical methodological research projects within the CTRU Statistical Methodology Division.  

There will also be an opportunity to further broaden your expertise through general consulting to health professionals and through clinical trial work, depending on individual interests.
