Dear colleagues,Immunoassay of urinary free cortisol is one of the least standardized tests I know of and has inherent risk for false positive results. Only HPLC or LC/tandem MS will produce comparable results, which are much lower than for immunoassay (with or without extraction with dichloromethane). Since the Abbott Axsym uses an immunoassay without extraction it will be extremely sensitive for crossreactivity with various metabolites and conjugates.
