Presumably in Scotland you’ll have to fry the Mars bars

Hmmm, that will be the Scottish modified mars bar test!

Alternatives to glucose drink have been used especially during pregnancy, these are:

Muffin test : 60 gm CHO

Jelly bean test: 100 gm

Cola test: 50 gm CHO

Dates test: 7 dates used in Saudi Arabia

And obviously the Mars bar test used by Michael Colley.

Can you add any further recipes for the GTT? Raisins or grapes would be logical to use!!

Had an interesting discussion today with a GP who said they did OGTTs in the practice. Oh, says I, and do you give the patient Polycal?
No says GP we tell them to come in fasting, take their blood, and then send them home for a sugar puffs /toast and jam breakfast and tell them to come back in two hours.

I am going home now for a nice lie down.
