Anyone get the impression that this hologram and pin card is a naf idea as checking can be done online?
Well said Michael, I got mine in this morning's post .......... it's not even plastic!!
A hologram - what a fantastic idea. I feel so much better about paying the annual fee now. I mean, having a hologram will give the card so much more credos.
Maybe the NMC should introduce a scheme that when you have been qualified 25 years you get a silver card, gold after 50, and then, finally, if you come up with an amazing idea to utilize NMC fees you get a platinum card with cash-back facility and air miles.
Didn't the card actually become a glorified receipt for fee payment a number of years ago, which meant that it was the employer's duty to check out individual's registration - hence;
"Employers and managers are responsible for checking whether their employees are registered with the NMC. This can be done online, by telephone or in
writing."

Expect an addition to their website soon - "unless they have a hologram".

Since April 2009, anyone joining the register, or renewing or retaining their registration will have received one of our redesigned PIN cards.
The new card has a hologram which makes it hard to copy.
If you don't have a new card yet, it will be replaced when you renew your registration, or pay your annual fee, or if you tell us that you have changed your name. Your old card is still valid until that happens.
By the end of 2009, everyone on our register will
have a new PIN card. |
