One postdoctoral position in experimental physical chemistry (reaction dynamics) is open at the Department of Chemistry, University of Hawai'i at Manoa,
for the period of initially one year. This position is renewable annually upon mutual agreement and based on the availability of funds. The salary is
competitive and commensurate with experience. Successful applicants should have a strong background in experimental reaction dynamics, UHV technology
, and laser systems. The following research areas are covered: i) astrochemistry and planetary chemistry (Titan, Solar System; gas phase and ices),
ii) degradation of surface-coated polymers under Martian and Lunar radiation and temperature environments, and iii) scattering experiments on the formation
of aromatic molecules on graphite and graphene surfaces. These studies are conducted within the cross-disciplinary W.M. Keck Laboratory of Astrochemistry -
a joined research center between the Department of Chemistry, Physics, Institute for Astronomy, and Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory. Please send a letter of interest, three letters of recommendation, CV, and
publication list to Prof. Ralf I. Kaiser, Department of Chemistry, University of Hawai'i at Manoa, Honolulu, HI 96822-2275, USA. Only complete,
electronic applications ([log in to unmask]) will be considered. Review of applications will start July 1, 2009, and continues until the position is filled.
