This query comes from a friend, who would like to know if any saints other than Christine, Catherine, possibly Irene in the Greek world have snakes as their iconographical symbol and/or stories in their vitae about being thrown into snake pits. I think she's appreciate any other snake-pit stories as well! (She is looking for parallels to the Gunnar episode in scandinavian sources).
