*Apologies for cross-postings* Rethinking Screenwriting is aimed both at researchers of film and audiovisual culture and practicing screenwriters, especially for those who are actively researching and reflecting on screenwriting, whether through traditional or practice-based research. It follows the first conference on screenwriting research organized at the University of Leeds in September 2008. The conference encourages critical approach to practices, processes and values of screenwriting, and seeks new insights into the creative practice of screenwriting as part of film production culture. The program is available at taik.fi/rethinking -> Programme Please take a look at the abstracts at taik.fi/rethinking -> Abstracts The registration fee is 75 e. For doctoral students the conference is free of charge. You can find the registration form and payment instructions at taik.fi/rethinking -> Registration The keynote lectures are held by professor Torben Grodal (Denmark), professor David Howard (USA) and by Dr. Ian Macdonald (UK). There are two parallel strands, which include 36 presentations. The researchers and screenwriters come from Australia, India, U.S.A., South Africa, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Finland and Belgium. In these sessions you will hear presentations on how the concept of screenwriting has expanded to new media forms and how the definitions of authorship in film have changed.
