Dear Colleagues, I would like to draw your attention to the short course PROCESS MODELING FOR GEOTHERMAL, CIVIL ENGINEERING, AND HYDROGEOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS That will be held at RWTH Aachen University in Germany from 24 to 28 August 2009 The focus of this course is on coupled numerical simulations of fluid flow, heat transfer, and reactive transport. Rock deformation and freezing will be additional topics. The physical and chemical basics as well as the philosophy of how to conceptualise, set up and perform numerical modeling projects are discussed and demonstrated. ‘Process Modeling for Geothermal, Civil Engineering, and Hydrogeological Applications’ is a hands-on course, designed for industry practitioners, researchers from academia and public institutions, and students interested in the simulation of fluid flow and reactive transport in hydrogeology, geothermal energy, and related fields such as Civil Engineering. Presenters: Prof Christoph Clauser, PD Dr Michael Kühn, Dr Darius Mottaghy, Dr Roland Blaschek and Associate Professor Klaus Gessner The course is a successor to the popular ‘Process Modelling of Hydrothermal Systems’ that ran from 2006 to 2008 in Aachen. Please note that material related to the initial course has just been published as a special volume of ‘Surveys in Geophysics’: (http://www.springerlink.com/content/w60651368g2v/?p=08287bef52cc40269139c00621e82196&pi=0) Additional Information: Website: http://www.rwth-academy.com/geophysics Flyer (PDF): http://www.rwth-academy.com/files/image/Flyer.pdf Timetable: http://www.rwth-academy.com/geophysics/zeitplan Registration: http://www.rwth-academy.com/anmeldung Please contact Lydia Schneider ([log in to unmask]) or Roland Blaschek ([log in to unmask]) for further information.
