Colleagues: We would like to call your attention to a topical session at the 2009 annual meeting of the Geological Society of America (Portland, Oregon; 18-21 October 2009). The session description is as follows: T43. Detachment Dynamics: Heat, Deformation, and Fluids in Extensional Systems. This session explores new thoughts about extensional detachment systems, including the dynamic relationships among strain localization, fluid flow, and heat exchange at these fundamental boundaries between brittle and ductile crust.
