Dear All:

Time: 2.00pm - 5.00pm

Venue:  Wai Yin Chinese Women Society, 61 Mosley Street, Manchester M

NEW OBJECT LESSONS: CURATING FOR 2012 is open to anyone involved
- in the heritage + cultural sector
- in the organisation of cultural celebrations such as the Chinese New Year, International Women's Week, the Cultural Olympiad, Local + Community History Month, DARWIN 200, National Science + Engineering Week, Museums & Galleries Month + Black History Month

Previously presented at The Manchester Museum as a workshop entitled From Slavery to the Olympics, NEW OBJECT LESSONS: CURATING FOR 2012 will look at a unique range of resources + cross-cultural content revealing connections between themes addressed as part of the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and the celebration of the Olympic Games. In keeping with the format of the current New Object Lessons programme, the starting point of this new cross-cultural journey will be a Chinese invention (the compass) which will provide the perfect opportunity to explore innovative + engaging ways to present British History to global audiences. Throughout the workshop references will also be made to various Chinese inventions having contributed to the development of visual representation in Britain.

CURATING FOR 2012 will show participants how to develop sustainable cross-cultural content + exhibition ideas aimed at all audiences - regardless of budget.

For bookings + further information on the full training programme, please email [log in to unmask].

NEW OBJECT LESSONS is supported by the Wai Yin Chinese Women Society.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

All the best: Dominique
