INFORMATION OFFICER - HERTSMERE BOROUGH COUNCIL (part time - 21.36 hours per week)

An opportunity has arisen in our Information Services (IS) Department at Hertsmere Borough Council for an individual to join our Knowledge and Programme management team to deliver a high quality information management support service to our internal customers. This will be achieved by assisting the organisation to develop and embed good Information Management practices and by assisting the organisation to maintain compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, the Data Protection Act, and Environmental Information Regulations.

The main duties of this role are to:

* Work with all departments to ensure effective development and implementation of targeted information and records management policies.
* Proactively identify and enable data sharing both between and within departments where there are business benefits in doing so.
* Log and respond to all information requests made to the Council under the Freedom of Information Act, the Data Protection Act, Environmental Information Regulations,   and Reuse of Public Sector Information Regulations.
* Work with the Web and Intranet Custodian to assist the organisation in making best use of Hertsmere's website as an information and service delivery channel.
* Carry out data protection and data security audits as required and work with the rest of the IS team to implement any required changes

The successful candidate must be committed to providing an excellent information support service to our internal customers by assisting them to provide high quality and efficient services whilst remaining within the law. You will have a sound working knowledge of information management and relevant information management legislation including the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Act. You will also need to be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and will need to demonstrate an ability to undertake your work in an accurate systematic manner with attention to detail.

This position is offered as a job share on a permanent basis of 21.36 hours per week (three working days) ideally working Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
