Research and Teaching Assistant / Doctorate in Brand Management
The Institute of Marketing and Communication Management (IMCA) within the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Università della Svizzera italinia (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland has opened a call for a PhD Directed Researcher with Teaching Assistant responsibility to Professor Leslie de Chernatony in the area of Brand Management.

The position is fully funded.  In addition to the PhD supervision fee being paid by USI, a grant of approximately 40,000 CHF will be awarded annually for 3 years to the successful candidate.

During this period the appointee will (a) undertake their doctoral studies under the supervision of Professor de Chernatony (b) collaborate on research projects (c) act as a Teaching Assistant for Professor de Chernatony.
The research and teaching assistant activities will be carried out in the beauty of Lugano where there are world class faculty members leading research and teaching activities amongst high calibre postgraduate and undergraduate students.

As part of Professor de Chernatony’s research cluster in brand management, the successful candidate will be investigating for their doctorate the processes by which market driving brands (e.g. Filthy Foods, innocent drinks, Build-a-Bear Workshop, etc) are nurtured and thrive.  There is an expectation that research papers and conference papers will be jointly authored, and presented, with Professor de Chernatony.

As Professor de Chernatony’s Teaching Assistant, the candidate will be the first point of contact between students and Professor de Chernatony outside the lecture theatre.  Responsibilities will consist of assisting in course and exam preparation and delivery, assisting in the development of conferences, as well as minor administrative tasks.

This is an ideal opportunity for a keen person to work on managerially relevant research in brand management, to interact with an international network of brand management researchers and to become a credible member of a university community.

The ideal candidate will have undertaken a training course in brand management and have (or soon expect) a good degree in some aspects of business studies.  Within USI, English is a common language and some interest learning Italian would be of assistance.
