This post-doctoral research position in the Department of Geography, University of Reading, might be of interest to list members.  The position is full time, fixed term for 30 months.

 

Post-doctoral Research Fellow - 'Children's Embodied Social Capital: connecting micro- and macro-scales of exclusion/inclusion'. 

The research is primarily qualitative, although some quantitative analysis is required. A key component of the project is in-depth, participatory research with children and young people, including young people diagnosed with Special Educational Needs. 

You will have:
- a PhD (or equivalent) in Geography or related discipline, either completed or close to completion
- experience of completing high quality qualitative and quantitative research to specified time frames
- the ability to conduct research with young people (some diagnosed as having disabilities or Special Educational Needs, including Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties)
- the ability to write for and present research to academic and other audiences to a high standard

Experience of conducting research with young people, disabled people and/or in challenging settings would be an advantage
