La Trobe University, Melbourne, is seeking to appoint a full-time technical officer to provide a range of technical support and services under the direction of the Senior Technical Officer to enhance the research and teaching profile of the Archaeology Program. 
 

The Archaeology Program is in the School of Historical and European Studies at La Trobe University.  It is a leading centre for research and teaching in prehistoric and historic archaeology in Australia.  Specific areas of specialisation include the archaeology of Australia and the Pacific, Africa, South West Asia, the Mediterranean, China and Mexico. Staff and research students maintain active programs of fieldwork both in Australia and overseas and are engaged in studies of stone tools, animal bones, plant remains and pottery in prehistoric and historical contexts as well as with issues of cultural heritage management. The Program has several archaeological laboratories, storerooms and workshops with a wide variety of archaeological field and laboratory equipment, ranging from four wheel drive vehicles, camping and excavation equipment to microscopes, cameras, electronic and digital surveying equipment and computers.
