Dear all,

Although the previous email was regarding parks or rides in Britain with any
listing, I thought it might be of interest to give a couple of Australian
examples.

Luna Park, on the harbour in Sydney (some of you may be familiar with it's
entrance as a big smiling face), has several heritage listings by local and
State government agencies. These can be viewed at h
ttp://www.heritage.nsw.gov.au/07_subnav_04_1.cfm<http://www.heritage.nsw.gov.au/07_subnav_04_1.cfm>
The listings include all sorts or murals, signs, stands, games the sea wall
and fig trees. Some elements of the Park are also listed on the Register of
the National Estate. A federal listing (National Heritage List) was sought
last year for Sydney's Luna Park although a decision was made by the
Minister for it not to go ahead. This would have put it up with Uluru and
the Sydney Opera House in terms of a National heritage significance

The Luna Park in St Kilda Victoria, has been nominated to be assessed under
the criteria of the National Heritage List, but as far as I am aware no
decisions have been made yet. The national listings can be found at
http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/ahdb/search.pl

In terms of recording and significance assessment, there would certainly be
some supporting documentation for these items.

Cheers,

Laura Matarese
