France has awarded ‘seven Algerian veterans of WWII a military medal in recognition of their contribution to the war effort’. 40,000 Algerians fought for France in the War.

‘The Algerian President Abdelazia Bouteflika reiterated his demand for an official French apology for the detrimental effects of French colonialism in Algeria.’
