High specificity for what?

It's reported as elevated in gastric Ca, pancreatic Ca, colorectal Ca, breast Ca, ovarian Ca and doubtless others.

Probably therefore only for malignancy (but of course only until proven otherwise).

Dear colleagues,

CA 72-4 is known for high specificity. However, first-ever slightly elevated CA 72-4 is a troublesome finding. For example, I wonder if 115 U/mL (cut-off 6.9) would (still) be compatible with non-malignant pathology? As ever, sharing collected wisdom is acknowledged.

Best regards,

Mike
