The successful applicants will work with permanent staff to automate and integrate various neuroimaging algorithms into larger workflows. Experience designing, implementing and documenting validation experiments for scientific data is a highly desirable. Applicants must have experience with MATLAB (or a similar scientific programming environment) and be comfortable in a heterogeneous Unix/Linux/Windows environment. Medical image analysis experience is a plus. Department: Radiology Basic Qualifications: The position requires formal training and/or experience in computer science and computer programming. The required educational background is college degree in computer science with a strong background in mathematics and other sciences, including biology and physics. Experience and demonstrated competence in design of efficient algorithms is essential. Must have an understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of a higher level programming language, including C, and be able to adapt to other languages as required. An advanced knowledge of computers, operation systems (including UNIX), and peripheral equipment is required, particularly in support of the systems analysis task required by certain projects. Knowledge of specific imaging research projects and applications can be acquired through on-the-job training and experience, requiring 6 to 12 months for proficiency. Must be well-organized, self-motivated to work independently and efficiently, and able to relate well with others on the programming staff and with user of the software. Equipment operated includes workstation computer systems from companies like Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics, and IBM, along with associated peripheral equipment such as tape drives, disks, printers, and video hardcopy and recording devices. The goal of ADIRL research is turning medical images into biologically relevant information. Experience should include managing large amounts of data with an intense focus on ease of- use for data producers and consumers. Responsibilities include both database back-end organization and the creation and maintenance of user-facing applications/interfaces in collaboration with technicians and scientists to maximize data utility. Replacement of the current PHP- and Perl-based data management system is under heavy consideration. Most potential replacements are Java-based (extensive Java development is desirable). The successful applicant must have experience in heterogeneous Unix/Linux/Windows environment along with excellent listening and collaborative skills. Technologies currently in use are PostgreSQL, PHP, Perl, Java, MATLAB, and Sun Grid Engine. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field plus five or more years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications. Department: Radiology Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered. 3-5 years experience. Demonstrated mastery of the qualifications detailed in the analyst/programmer job description. Evidence of project management skills. Evidence of strong communication, meeting management and organizational skills. Experience working in healthcare technology. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications. Masters degree in applicable field.
