9 June 2009 - FREE Seminar: Team Analysis of Multimedia & Multiple (synchronised) Digital Records Analysis (UK)

Synopsis:
The Qualitative Innovations in CAQDAS (QUIC) and the CAQDAS Networking Projects are pleased to announce a forthcoming seminar showcasing two recently developed (and developing) software systems to support multimedia team working, and the concurrent analysis of multiple types of (possibly synchronised) digital records. Both software are currently freeware.

The event will be held at the University of Surrey, Guildford, Surrey UK on 9th June 2009 from 11 am until 3.30pm. The seminar is FREE, but places should be booked via email to: [log in to unmask]

Abstracts for the two main presentations are as follows:

Dr Mike Fraser of the University of Bristol will demonstrate 'MiMeG' developed by the NCeSS MixedMediaGrid (MiMeG) project.
This software enables people in different locations to annotate video together for qualitative analysis in real time, so that they can each see the others' notes, transcripts, drawings and markings on the video they are watching and can talk to each other at the same time. Some examples of the different ways such data can be analysed will be discussed.

Dr Andy Crabtree of the University of Nottingham will demonstrate 'DRS' developed by the NCeSS Digital Records in E Social Science (DReSS) project.
The Digital Replay System (DRS) is a next generation CAQDAS package. It allows you to synchronize, replay and analyse heterogeneous datasets, which might include text, video and sound files as well as data gathered in digital environments (GPS, SMS, Internet usage, etc.). Coding mechanisms support analysis and quantitative representation, and document tools enable the production of media rich field reports.
