Cardiff Green Drinks
Green Drinks are open and
informal monthly gatherings now taking place in over 460 cities
worldwide. All are welcome, whatever their background or level of
experience. Entry is free, the only requirement is an interest in
environmental matters. A light buffet will be served courtesy of Brains
Brewery. Stay for one drink or stay until closing time. The choice is
yours. Have a look at www.greendrinks.org to follow the rapid
growth of this global movement, one anybody can be part of just
by popping down the pub with an open mind. Please help us to continue the growth of Cardiff Green

Fair Trade Cardiff Annual General Meeting, Monday
May 18th
All are welcome to come and learn more about Fair Trade
Cardiff and get involved with activities promoting Fair Trade locally. Guest
speaker will be Elen Jones, National Coordinator of Fair Trade Wales. Light

Community Action for Climate Change Network Event,
Wednesday May 20th
The Welsh Assembly Government, in collaboration with Science
Shops Wales, is facilitating a regional network for community and 3rd sector
groups wanting to contribute to efforts to mitigate the effects of climate
change. The event is open to anyone within these sectors whose work
contributes to climate change action.

National Family Week Picnic, Bank Holiday Monday
May 25th
National Family Week is a new initiative running from the 25th
to 31st May to celebrate and promote family life and a more family friendly
culture. The picnic is a national attempt to set the Guiness World Record for
the largest picnic across multiple venues. Cardiff's contribution will take
place on the beautiful lawn of Cardiff University's Main Building. To qualify
for the world record each participating family needs to pre-register at www.nationalfamilyweek.co.uk
Bring a rug, at least a two course meal and drinks.
Registration starts at 12noon with the official count at 1pm.
Free strawberries and cream will be provided and there will be organised games
for the youngsters and a prize for the biggest picnic rug.
University of Glamorgan Outdoor Learning
Programme
The University of Glamorgan has recently launched a BSc. in
Outdoor Learning and Sustainability. The programme of modules which make up this
course includes a series of short courses open to all:
Introduction to starting up
your own Outdoor Learning Social Enterprise
Dates: 26th &
30th June, 2nd July 2009 (3 day course + personal community project
activity)
Outdoor Learning, Sustainability
and Global Citizenship
Dates: 27th-31st July, 2009 (5 day course)
Introduction to
Outdoor Learning Technical Skills
Dates: 20-25th July, 2009 (5 day course)
All of the course days run from 10.00am
until 4.00pm. The Short courses are designed to link with
existing community-based education projects and programmes relevant to the
use of outdoor learning for sustainability and global citizenship. For further
