According to http://www.thehospitalgroup.org/obesity-surgery/gastric-band.php she should be back at work in a week.....  A month seems excessive to me, for what is basically a lap - even if her role is physical. I would be inclined to gently challenge the month cert - what can she/can't she do and see if her usual role can be adjusted to accommodate an earlier return to work.

Hi All
I know its late on Friday but incase some of you are still working like me(!) has anyone had anything to do with expectations for return to work after gastric banding surgery.
I would expect the usual post surgery advice and assess against job role etc but is there anything specific for gastric banding given the nature of the surgery,        ? unwanted side effects in sudden reduction in calories ,  elastic band around gastrium causing heartburn/ hiatus hernia type discomfort leading to difficulties carrying out usual role / shift work - short term and long term etc etc = want to be prepared!
basically anything at all?
