“Who’s afraid of
recent medical heritage?”
Abstract: Medical museums around the world
traditionally focus on modern medicine from the 18th century to the mid 20th
century. Few museums have systematically explored contemporary medical science
and technology, in either their collections or their displays. Why is this so?
The lecture will offer explanations and suggest ways for medical museums to
address this.
The talk will be followed by a reception at the
Museum (6 – 6:30 p.m.), sponsored by the University of Leeds Faculty of
Arts and Philosophy Department
