Using two Chinese inventions as starting points, *Peace Concluded* will explore Manchester's global impact through everyday objects, museum items + iconic 19th century figures linked to either its gun industry or its peace movement(s). Participants will undertake a series of activities devised to encourage them to: - (using museum collections) consider various ways to look at the theme of conflict + conflict resolution - develop cross-cultural narratives facilitating a constructive approach to difficult topics - develop outreach schemes, promoting local heritage as well as introducing new audiences to science + art history They will also be invited to reflect on the role of the curator as a social healer. Aimed at anyone involved in celebrations such as Black History Month, Science + Engineering Week, the Cultural Olympiad or interested in developing science +/or arts outreach projects, this new cross-cultural journey will start in Manchester's Chinatown where the Wai Yin Chinese Women Society is based.
