The Department of Geography, University of Zurich is advertising a:

*PhD scholarship (SNSF, 3 years)*

The successful applicant will be part of a research team working on the 
project “/Living with violence: rural livelihoods in Mid-Western Nepal 
during and after the People’s War/“, which is funded by the Swiss 
National Science Foundation (SNSF). The scholarship is for a duration of 
three years with possible extension of another year.

Applicants should have a Master degree in Human Geography, Development 
Studies, Political Science or any other relevant social sciences 
discipline. Field experiences in Asia are desirable and the successful 
candidate is expected to carry out long-term field work in rural Nepal.

Successful applicants will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary research 
team. We are conducting research on rural livelihoods and on the 
political geography of violent conflict in the Horn of Africa and South 
Asia and are collaborating with a number of scholars from those regions.
