Museum of Copenhagen

 

The Museum of Copenhagen is responsible for all antiquarian work in the boroughs of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. Our aim is to carry out this work with a high standard of professionalism in order to record and generate new and important knowledge of the city's history and development. 

 

Over the next 4 - 6 years, the Museum of Copenhagen will be tackling new and important challenges as a result of the planned establishment of the Metro City Ring. In order to face these challenges the following posts are vacant for application:

Ca. 4 field leader jobs, an archaeological data base coordinator, 25 archaeological posts and 5 student jobs.

 

Qualifications:

 

The field leaders are required to have a degree in archaeology, preferably in Medieval or post-Medieval archaeology with a sound experience of field- and report work, routine in town archaeology and the special excavation techniques this form of field work requires. Furthermore, the post requires knowledge and experience of and with traditional registration systems, Totalstation, Gps, Intrasis and Acces. Last but not least the post requires experience in leadership and economic management.

The archaeological data base coordinator post will have an active role in implementing a transition to a digital archaeological documentation in situ and in the report phase of the archaeological projects. In order to facilitate this process, we are searching for a person with a broad experience in digital registration of archaeological data from other large excavations. Potential candidates for the post are expected to have a firm knowledge of traditional registration systems as well as possessing a detailed insight and routine in the construction of data bases and digital registration systems such as Intrasis and Acces. All registration will be executed in IntraSIS Explorer, so experience herein will be seen as an advantage.

Candidates possessing insight into and routine with traditional registration systems such as Totalstation, Gps, Intrasis and Acces will be given high priority.

Student job candidates as a minimum have to be enrolled in archaeology at University level, or within a related subject.
