I think Geotechnical Instruments do a fact sheet on cross gas interferance for that specific reason. I will post when back in the office if I can find it amongst a trillion PDFS'. FID destroys and resolves all HC to a total while Infra Red takes the Methane but can be well affected if there are especially light end Aliphatics, Alkanes\ Alkenes so efcfectively a false methane measurement.
