With apologies for cross-posting:

Please find attached a job spec for two student placements for Strathisla Distillery in Keith, Banffshire, and Chivas Brothers, London, which I am distributing on behalf of the company.  The contact details for each post are at the end of each section.

Archive & Record Management Assistant (Student Placement)

Chivas Brothers Ltd is offering an 8 week summer placement for a student with a genuine interest in pursuing a career in Archives or Museums.  The placement, which will start in early July 2009, would suit a student about to enter their final year at university and will offer the opportunity to work in the company archives of Chivas Brothers.  Chivas Brothers is the Scotch whisky and premium gin business of Pernod Ricard - the world's co-leader in wine and spirits

The key task of the Archive and Record Management Assistant will be to facilitate the transfer of existing archive materials, onto a new digital archive (which uses AdLib Systems software) and will require photographing, scanning and cataloguing of materials and data entry.  The role will be supervised but you will be required to work on your own and be self-motivated.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in setting up a new digital archive, for a company with a wealth of historical documents, photographs and artifacts.

Skills Required:

-          Experience of cataloguing and data entry

-          Knowledge of the AdLib Systems software an advantage

-          Excellent organisational skills

-          Self-motivated and able to work alone
