Medical Statistician/Epidemiologist - Salary - £28,839 to £35,469 Centre for Statistics in Medicine, University of Oxford http://www.csm-oxford.org.uk/ The Centre for Statistics in Medicine in Oxford (Director: Professor Doug Altman) carries out collaborative medical research projects, a methodological research programme, and teaching. Members of the Centre have a particular interest in randomised controlled trials, diagnostic accuracy studies and prognostic studies. The Centre currently employs 13 statisticians and other researchers and is part of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Oxford, UK. The Centre is located in an attractive site at Wolfson College in North Oxford. Applications are invited for a medical statistician to provide statistical input to the NIHR research programme: Imaging diagnosis of colorectal cancer: Interventions for efficient and acceptable diagnosis in symptomatic and screening populations. The successful applicant will participate in an exciting series of methodological projects in imaging studies and collaborate with grant co-applicants in the design and analysis of new studies. Applicants should ideally have a good (first or upper second) first degree (preferably with a large statistical component) and a postgraduate qualification in medical statistics, epidemiology or other qualification including a quantitative component. They should preferably have experience working as a medical statistician/epidemiologist. Applicants should be fluent in key aspects of study design and analysis, and be aware of the latest statistical techniques. Experience in the use of statistical packages is essential together with good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex statistical issues to non-statisticians. The appointment will be for three years in the first instance. Salary will be in the range £28,839 - £38,757 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. The post is available immediately.
