Two posts in the Hub in Trials Methodology Research: Cambridge

Band 3 Senior Statistician (£35,635 to £39,423) 5 Year FTC

Band 4 Statistician (£25,622 to £28,346) 5 Years FTC or 3 year CDF

The MRC Biostatistics Unit is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research
institutions. It has recently been awarded a major MRC grant to develop a
regional Hub in clinical trials methodology research. The Hub will:

* establish an internationally competitive research programme in
clinical trials methodology, with a focus on statistical issues;

* establish strong collaborations with relevant applied research
groups in Cambridge and the local region and interact with existing
programmes in the Unit

* establish an appropriate training and dissemination programme for
methodology in clinical trials.

* have statistical responsibility for a number of trials, but not
for the day-to-day conduct of trials or data management.

* capitalise on links with the Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre

The grant is for five years, but with potential for longer term funding to
follow.

We now seek a senior statistician (band 3), and a postdoctoral statistician
(band 4). The Senior Statistician will identify, develop and maintain new
Hub collaborations by directly supporting trials work. There will also be
the lead responsibility for developing the Hub's training programme and for
the lead research role in trials methodology research.

The Statistician will support Hub collaborations by having statistical
responsibility for a number of trials. There will be the expectation to
develop new statistical methods and to apply them to trial design and
analysis. A recently qualified PhD will be offered a three year Career
Development Fellowship.
